BREAKING: Several injuries after car mounts pavement in London
A car has mounted the pavement and injured several people in London this afternoon. Emergency services were alerted to an RTC near the Natural History Museum. Images circulating on social media show a number of men holding the driver face down on the pavement. It is not yet known what the driver’s motives were and police haven’t confirmed whether this is terrorist-related or not.
17:03 – Scotland Yard say they are “keeping an open mind” over whether this is a terrorist attack.
17:04 – A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 1421 on Saturday, 7 October to reports of a collision in Exhibition Road, South Kensington. It is believed that a number of pedestrians have been injured. Officers are on scene, and the London Ambulance Service have been called.
“A man has been detained at the scene. Enquiries to establish the circumstances and motive are underway.”
