Noel Gallagher shares emotional hug with his mum ahead of We Are Manchester benefit concert

Noel Gallagher has been spotted sharing a hug with his mother Peggy ahead of a headline performance at the re-opening of Manchester Arena.

The 50-year-old musician arrived into the city on Friday (September 8), ahead of the sell-out benefit gig which marks the re-opening of the venue since the terror attack back in May which killed 22 people at an Ariana Grande concert.

A crowd of 14,000 is expected at the We Are Manchester benefit gig, which also includes The Courteeners, Blossoms and Rick Astley on the line-up.

Comedian Russell Kane is set to host the show, with Peter Kay added to the bill last minute to introduce Noel Gallagher onto the stage.

Peter Kay has previously detailed what the arena means to him, saying: ‘I started working there when it first opened, then I started doing shows there.

‘I know it so well, I know a lot of the staff, that’s what’s upset me the most about it.’

Many however were hopeful Noel’s brother Liam would also be in attendance, but he’s currently in Spain on his solo tour.

The gig follows the One Love Manchester tribute gig organised by Ariana Grande, which also saw the likes of Miley Cyrus and Black Eyed Peas perform.
